Fingal County Council Announces Launch of the Sports Awards 2026
Fingal County Council, through the Fingal Sports Office, is delighted to officially launch the Sports Club Volunteer Awards 2026 and the Sports Clubs of the Year Awards 2026, recognising and celebrating outstanding commitment, contribution, and achievement across the sporting community in Fingal.
The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, 26th January 2026, at the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport, where volunteers and clubs will gather for a special evening dedicated to acknowledging their invaluable role in supporting and advancing local sport.
Across Ireland, an estimated 450,000 volunteers give their time to support sports clubs every week, making an immeasurable impact on participation, wellbeing, inclusion, and community spirit. The Sports Volunteer Awards shine a spotlight on these community heroes, inviting each club to nominate one individual whose dedication, leadership, and generosity embody the spirit of volunteering.
In parallel, the Sports Clubs of the Year Awards will highlight clubs that have demonstrated excellence throughout 2025 across three areas:
- Green Club of the Year – recognising environmental sustainability and climate-conscious action
- Club of the Year – honouring excellence in engagement, governance, and community impact
- Sports Inclusion Club of the Year – celebrating inclusive pathways and accessible participation opportunities
Prize packages include official recognition, award trophies, and a €750 sports equipment voucher for winning clubs, supporting their ongoing development and growth.
Speaking about the awards, Mayor Tom O’Leary said:
“These awards are a celebration of the volunteers and Clubs whose work forms the heartbeat of sport in Fingal. Their commitment ensures that individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can experience the benefits that sport provides.”
